Walter Burnham
Walter Burnham was born on April 19, 1832 in Washington, CT to Daniel and Laura Burnham. He was a marble cutter/manufactorer in Washington, Ct with his wife Edna.
He enlisted on August 9, 1862 at the age of 30. He served as a Second Lieutenant in Company H, 19th Infantry Regiment Connecticut Volunteers, and later in the 2nd Heavy Artillery Regiment CT Volunteers. On December 26, 1862, he was promoted to Full First Lieutenant, and on May 4, 1864 to Full Captain. He was wounded on October 19, 1864 in Cedar Creek, Virginia. Walter was again promoted on January 23, 1865 to Brevet Major. His brother, Dayton, assited him throughout his military career as a Captain. Walter was mustered out on February 4, 1865.
He died on Sepetember 11, 1913 in New Preston, Connecticut.
