Edgar W. Calhoun
Edgar W. Calhoun was born in Washington, CT in 1839 to Jane C. and Sheldon Hoyt Calhoun.
He enlisted on August 7, 1862 into Co. H of the 2nd Heavy Artillery CT Volunteers. The regiment's first year was spent in the defenses about D.C.. In 1846, the regiment was called into active service under Grant. Edgar participated in Cold Harbor, the Shenandoah campaign, Battle of Winchester, and the closing campaign about St. Petersburg. He was discharged on July 7, 1865.
He returned to Washington after the war and married Lucinda A. Munson and then remarried to Jane C. Fenn. He died on Novemeber 7, 1909.
